Framework for monitoring national EE strategy
On Tuesday 20
July, Danish Management Group submitted an expression of interest (EOI)
for an energy monitoring project in South Africa.
Danish
Management Group joins the lead firm IIEC (the International Institute
for Energy Conservation) in trying to bag this challenging assignment
with the South Africa Department of Minerals and Energy (DME).
The
Department of Minerals and Energy is seeking consultants to develop and
initiate implementation of a system for tracking South Africa's
national progress in achieving the ambitious national energy efficiency
targets set out in the recently drafted Energy Efficiency Strategy for
South Africa.
The assignment will run over a period of eight months and will entail the following primary outputs:
- Detailed investigation into international best practice into national energy efficiency targeting, and monitoring;
- Identify
the key energy-efficiency indicators that will be necessary in order to
monitor progress of the National Energy Efficiency Strategy against
individual sectoral targets;
- Determine which sectoral energy usage and activity data
are currently and readi;ly available for incorporation into a tracking
database and process;
- Begin to collect and to processing such available data;
- Identify
key national stakeholders and assemble them for formulation of a
national "institution" that would oversee and manage the ongoing data
collection, management, and analysis process;
- In cooperation with the the Department of Minerals and Energy, establish data collection and publication protocols.
