Danish Management Group Submits EOI for South Africa

Framework for monitoring national EE strategy

ImageOn Tuesday 20 July, Danish Management Group submitted an expression of interest (EOI) for an energy monitoring project in South Africa.

Danish Management Group joins the lead firm IIEC (the International Institute for Energy Conservation) in trying to bag this challenging assignment with the South Africa Department of Minerals and Energy (DME).

The Department of Minerals and Energy is seeking consultants to develop and initiate implementation of a system for tracking South Africa's national progress in achieving the ambitious national energy efficiency targets set out in the recently drafted Energy Efficiency Strategy for South Africa.


The assignment will run over a period of eight months and will entail the following primary outputs:
  • Detailed investigation into international best practice into national energy efficiency targeting, and monitoring;
  • Identify the key energy-efficiency indicators that will be necessary in order to monitor progress of the National Energy Efficiency Strategy against individual sectoral targets;
  • Determine which sectoral energy usage and activity data are currently and readi;ly available for incorporation into a tracking database and process;
  • Begin to collect and to processing such available data;
  • Identify key national stakeholders and assemble them for formulation of a national "institution" that would oversee and manage the ongoing data collection, management, and analysis process;
  • In cooperation with the the Department of Minerals and Energy, establish data collection and publication protocols.
