DM shortlisted for evaluation of PEAP

Danish Management has recently been shortlisted for an evaluation assignment concerning the Ugandan Poverty Eradication Action Plan (PEAP).

evaluation sheetPEAP is Uganda's national development framework and medium term planning tool. It was first drafted in 1997, underwent its first revision in 2000, and is now currently undergoing a second revision. The purpose of the PEAP is to provide an overarching strategic framework and to guide public action to reduce poverty, defined as low incomes, limited human development and powerlessness. The PEAP provides a framework within which sectors develop detailed plans.

The PEAP, which is also the Country's Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP), guides the formulation of government policy and implementation of programmes through sector wide approaches and a decentralized governance system. The expenditure implications of the PEAP are translated into concrete spending decisions through the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and annual budgets.

June 2007 marked 10 years of PEAP implementation and the mid point for targets set for 2017. Therefore, the Government of Uganda under the prime minister's office would like to carry out an independent evaluation of the PEAP to find out how effective it has been.

Danish Management is one of the 6 short listed local and international firms that have been asked to submit a proposal for this independent evaluation, which hopefully can be used as a guide and standard for other PRSP evaluations by the International Evaluation association, development partners and the African Evaluation Association.
