Technical competence, not price, is the key to Danish Energy Management’s recent successes in the Danida consultancy market.
DEM has in the past few months won three Danida contracts worth a combined total of DKK 35 million. They involve the identification of CDM projects in three Southeast Asian countries: Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
“These three projects are the result of our focus on environment and energy in Southeast Asia over many years,” says Frantz Longhi, Managing Director of DEM to Development Today. He notes that DEM did not win any of the contracts based on price, rather on high technical scores.
DEM has the ambition of being among the top five companies in the Danida market. With these last three contracts, DEM is well on its way to achieving this ambition.
Longhi says DEM tries to be very focused in its tendering because it is expensive to be short listed and not to win. “We put a lot of effort in when we are pre-qualified. We only go for projects where we have special competence,” he says.
