fact that we are becoming leading players on the ICT market. |

specific purpose of the mission was to finalise the intervention plan
with priority areas, institutional set-up, organisational locations,

Danish
ICT Management undertook a consultancy assignment in the Maldives to
develop a business model for NCIT under the Ministry of Transport and
Communication. The first lot of field work was successfully carried out
in September 2005 by Mr. Claus Hoevelt, Ms. Rachael Kadama and Ms. Jane
Moeller Larsen. The next lot of field work took place from 2 to 22
December, 2005, and included Mrs. Ulla Hauer, Mr. Michelle Sassene, and
Ms. Jane Moeller Larsen as the Team leader.
Generally, the
consultancy dealt with localising, assessing and recommending
successful e-government models from around the world, and hereunder to
suggest and advise on the most appropriate e-government strategies for
the Government of Maldives in relation to network establishment,
applications development, services within the administration between
the Government and the citizens, and how e-government services were to
be planned in order to be sustainable in the long run (charges, cost
recovery and return on investment). Additionally, the consultancy dealt
with assessing the corporate structure of NCIT and to recommend whether
or not the organisation should transform into a parastatal unit.
