Did you know that Danish ICT Management also designs computer games?
Danish ICT Management recently completed an exciting project for the United Nations, namely Operation Wangagulu.
Operation Wangagulu is a game for senior-level high school students with the overall aim of creating awareness among young people of the UN’s main activities.
Yvonne Petersen from the Danish UN Association provided us with an article describing the game.
Article by Yvonne Petersen, Danish UN Association
Operation Wangagulu is designed for use in teaching and its primary target group is senior high school students.
The material has been made for use in subjects such as history, geography, social studies, Danish as well as cross-curriculur courses.
Depending on the selections that students make as well as discussions that arise as they go along, students can spend from 20 minutes to 2 hours to get through the game
In the game, the student is a UN employee stationed in one of the world’s many poor and conflict-ridden countries to assist for 6 months (180 days). The student is based at UN’s Headquarters in the fictive country of Wangagulu.
The objective of Operation Wangagulu is to give students a glimpse of the many different tasks undertaken by UN. Many young people know a lot about the UN’s work with wars and conflicts in the form of the blue berets and the UN Security Council.
Operation Wangagulu aims at showing that the UN is also involved in long term development projects, refugees and emergency services for victims of catastrophes.
Operation Wangagulu is intended to create an interest in the United Nations among young people, and it is designed for use in courses of a longer duration. The material is in no way intended as a course in itself.
