Will coordinate First Asia ESCO Conference

Danish Management Group Thailand reached agreement yesterday with the Japan ESCO Association (JAESCO) on a contract to coordinate the First Asia ESCO Conference. ESCOs are energy service companies, and they are a major vehicle for implementing energy efficiency investment projects. We at Danish Management Group have experience in ESCO work in Europe, and have done some ESCO market studies in Asia, but landing this contract puts Danish Management Group at the center of a very important event for Asia’s energy-efficiency industry, and will further improve Danish Management Group’s profile high in the region. It also happens to be the first official contract signed by Danish Management Group’s new subsidiary in Thailand, Danish Management Group Thailand!

Danish Management Group Thailand’s role will be to work closely with JAESCO in all aspects of planning and organizing the conference. This includes developing a web site with e-payment system; establishing the international program committee; call for presentations’ recruitment of speakers; planning and finalizing the program; and all local support and logistics for the conference.

The conference will be held in Bangkok during late October 2005. JAESCO expects approximately 150 people to attend. Currently, JAESCO has lined up sponsorship from the European Union (via Paolo Bertoldi); NAESCO (North American ESCO Association); China Energy Management Co. Association; and, with Danish Management Group Thailand’s assistance the Thailand Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE). Danish Management Group will assist JAESCO to develop a relationship with, and possible sponsorship by, The World Bank, which has been aggressively promoting ESCOs in the region.

The project will be led by Mr. Peter du Pont and will include input from Mrs. Monthon Kumpengsath (liasing with Thai authorities); Mr. Jakkanit "Jeff" Kananurak (international coordination); Ms. Chonticha "Fon" Cherdsuriya (local logistics). The conference web site will be developed and delivered by Danish Management Group Bangladesh, led by Mr. Sanjib Ahmad.

Although the contract is not large EUR 41,000, it is strategically important, placing Danish Management Group at the center of ESCO work in Asia.
